Suggested February Reading Themes

With Valentine's Day and Presidents' Day both in February, reading themes revolving around these two holidays are always a good idea. For Valentine's Day, consider:
        1. "I LOVE to Read"
        2.  Cuddle Up with A Good Book
        3.  Teddy Bears are popular for Valentine's Day- books with bears such as Corduroy, Goldilocks, or the Berenstain Bears are classic children's favorites.

Suggested March Reading Themes

March is one of those months that seems to go on forever- no vacations, no days off- maybe that's why March is the most popular month for PARP programs. If you're running your program in March, consider

1. MARCH Into Reading- use paper cut-outs of footsteps to keep track of number of books read. I've seen some schools that literally stretch their "MARCH" from one end of the school to the other!
2. With St. Patrick's Day on March 17, themes such as "Discover the Pot of Gold- READ!", and "Read Over the Rainbow" are seasonally apropos.
3. Using the old "March comes in like a Lion, and goes out like a Lamb", you may want to use an animal theme for you March PARP program.
